Q:  My documents have very short pages and I'm running Screenwriter 2000 on a 64-bit version of Windows.

In 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7, due to the new security enhancements, Screenwriter may not be able to communicate with the printer driver in order to get the proper paper size to calculate the margins.

This will cause the page size to be incorrect.

Our suggested work-around would be to restart the computer when this happens.

As a more permanent work-around, you can turn off the User Account Control (UAC) in Windows itself, but since that is a security setting for Windows, you do so at your own risk.

To turn off the UAC:

  1. Exit Screenwriter completely.
  2. Click on Start > Control Panel.
  3. Click on User Accounts and Family Safety.
  4. Click on User Accounts.
  5. Click on Turn User Account Control on or off.
  6. Click on Continue.
  7. Uncheck the box labeled “Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer”.
  8. Click OK.
  9. When prompted, restart the computer.
