Installation Instructions

  1. First, exit out of Screenwriter completely if you have not done so already.
  2. Click on the download link below to start the download.
  3. If prompted to Run/Open or Save, choose Run.* After the program has downloaded, the installation will automatically begin.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install.
*You may wish to choose Save if you want to have the installer somewhere on your hard drive for safe keeping. If using Firefox, click Save File and then double-click the file manually after it is done downloading.

Issues Fixed in 6.0.5.89

  • When trying to save to a non-accessible drive, the program leaves the Zap Saving window open.
  • When the page starts halfway down the first page, the header is also placed halfway down the page.
  • The program no longer shows an arrow to the left of the element that is being read in Text to Speech."
  • When doing a Search and Replace - “Yes to All” stops at every instance of the word, instead of replacing them all.
  • After dragging an element to new place in the script, the program repositions the document on screen so the dragged element is at the same place on screen as it originally was.
  • Text to Speech stops when it reaches an unassigned character, rather than skipping over it.
  • The Navidoc Flashing pointer has only one fade rate regardless of which fade rate the user has chosen in the settings dialog.
  • Double clicking on an element type in the Setup Voices dialog triggers a crash.
  • Extra line of Action gets inserted when adding a new Scene Heading.
  • Program Crashes when hiding/marking non-printing dialogue.
  • Access Violation when searching, inserting outline elements, copying and pasting, editing text, etc.
  • Access violation at address 0082E020 in module 'scwriter32.exe'. Read of address 63736E70.
  • Ctrl+Clicking a NaviDoc Outline disclosure button causes a crash.

Known Issues

  • Cannot Drag and Drop between documents (cut & paste does work).
  • If the user isn't logged in as Administrator (nor has Administrator privileges) then nothing happens when clicking on the “Get Details” link in the “An Update is Available” screen. Right Clicking and choosing Run as Administrator does work.
  • Screenwriter is underlining misspelled/unknown hyphenated words improperly.
  • Undo does not “dirty” the document.
  • Selection can become discontinuous when drag selecting down and to the right.
  • Pasting text from another program into a selected paragraph may sometimes paste the text into the element below it.
  • Navigating to bookmarks created cross platform may take you to the wrong location in the script of the bookmark you selected.
  • When an Outline Style is promoted to Act Break it is promoted as Same Act and not a New Act. You can then manually change that Act to a New Act by Right Clicking on the Act element in the document and using the Change This Act To > Act Break > New Act Break command.
  • Deleting Note and Outline elements through the NaviDoc in a Locked Script Marks the script as revised.
  • Currently you will be unable to Open a 6.0 Script in the Multi-Media Player as it only recognizes .scw files.
  • Elements that are double-spaced export to an RTF file as single-spaced.
  • When you show a Windows document in iPartner to a partner on a Mac, the iPartner document view on the Mac has black text with a blue background color.
  • When pasting text, the cursor stays IN FRONT OF the pasted block, not following it.
  • When Printing the Notes Report to PDF nothing gets printed.
  • Program crashes when you print or preview an Outline report that only includes Notes.
  • Rare Access Violation - Get BoundsRec error when clicking on a menu after working in another program.
  • Unable to select multiple Notes in the Notes Panel.
  • Sometimes you will get a File Not Found or Access Denied when Saving.
  • When user sets script text color to white and attempts to print, the pages appear to come out blank.
  • When you copy and paste text, the windows caret moves to another location on the page you pasted text.
  • Screenwriter sometimes does not handle Swedish characters and makes incorrect auto-corrections.
  • When changing an Outlines margin the text does not wrap to the new margin setting.
  • Loading the Novel Template on an existing document takes an extremely long amount of time ~5 minutes.
  • The Novel Templates do no load in Novel Mode. This can be fixed by going into Format > Element Styles. Then in the Action Panel changing the indent from -1 to 5.
  • Currently unable to turn off check for automatic updates.
  • When Printing the Notes Report to PDF nothing gets printed.
  • Scrolling with the mouse in rare cases may cause an Access Error.
