If you have selected some text and then realized that you need to select less or more text, you don't have to start over. Instead:

Press the SHIFT key and hold it down. |

Use the Up and Down and Side to Side Arrow keys. This will allow you to extend or reduce the selection. |

Release the SHIFT key. |
